Bolt Cutter

It's a fairly typical summer's day in the papers this morning - the usual transfer rubbish on the usual targets - plus a bit of silliness thrown in.
The Moura saga rumbles on, with a new contender being thrown into the ring by the papers.  The Sun report that PSG want him, while The Mail go further and claim a deal has been done, though there source is the Inter Milan chairman:
Inter president Massimo Moratti claimed that Sao Paulo had agreed a deal with PSG for £35million - £5m more than the Brazilian club were poised to accept from United.
Moratti said: ‘We would never have gone up to that sum. In any case, there are no regrets that we didn’t finish off the move, as the cost was already pretty high a few days ago.’
The Mirror claim we're not interested anymore-anyway-so-there:
Manchester United are pulling out of the race for Brazilian whizzkid Lucas Moura – because his ‘camp’ want an eye-watering £6million in fees.
The Mail report on an apparently unhappy Nani:
The Portuguese international was expected to sign a new deal this summer and cement his place as a key part of manager Sir Alex Ferguson's future plans.
But with the new season less than fortnight away, the 25-year-old has not managed to find an agreement and sources close to the player have revealed that he has been left feeling unwanted.
'Nani wants to stay but is feeling a little unloved,' said the source on Monday night. 'He hasn't given up on a new contract but is upset that there hasn't been greater urgency shown by United.
'At the moment he is not in a great frame of mind.'
Typical unnamed sources paper nonsense.
The Guardian report that Tom Cleverley might play for England in the upcoming friendly:
Tom Cleverley is expected to make his England debut in next week's friendly against Italy in Berne after the Manchester United midfielder impressed Roy Hodgson with his contribution to Team GB's campaign at the Olympic Games.
...
The manager has expressed his satisfaction with the impact made by Cleverley, Daniel Sturridge and Ryan Bertrand with Stuart Pearce's Great Britain side, who were eliminated in the quarter-finals on penalties by South Korea on Saturday. While all three will be considered for the game against Italy, it is anticipated Cleverley will be included and will finally make an appearance at the highest level having missed out a year ago when the friendly against the Netherlands was postponed due to the riots in London.
The same paper has optimistic news on Darren Fletcher from the Scotland camp:
...when asked if Fletcher could have a role in the national set-up if he had to retire from playing, Levein revealed his captain is on the road to recovery.
"Darren will be with us at the weekend, he is back in training and he played 45 minutes in a practice match last week," he said. "He is not in the squad because he has not played for Manchester United but he will come back and do a bit of training with us."
Daily Star has some quotes from Vidic on playing Barca tomorrow:
“It will be a tough game, but obviously it will be a good test for us. We need these games before the league starts.
“Hopefully it will be a good test and we will have a good game. We have to prepare for the Premier League and Champions League because this is our target.”
Silly story of the day - Usain Bolt wants a trial with us:
Bolt, 25, said: “People think I am joking. But if Alex Ferguson called me up and said, ‘OK let’s do this, come and have a trial’, it would be impossible for me to say No.
“I would not take up the challenge if I didn’t think I was good enough. I am a very accomplished player and know I could make a difference.
Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand tweeted Bolt: "If you want that trial at Man Utd shout me, I'll speak to the boss!! Well done in 100m."
