Main story today is speculation that we're trying to sign Udinese's Alexis Sanchez from under Man City's noses.
The Sun write that David Gill met with Udinese president:
Gill met Udinese president Gino Pozzo yesterday - ironically in Barcelona, where the Italian supremo lives - to thrash out an agreement....The 19-time champions are increasingly confident of getting their man, even though £27m is about £4m more than they had originally hoped to pay.
While The Mirror report that:
Gill was also spotted in talks with Sanchez’s representatives who have been with Barca - with insiders revealing that the player wants to go to United above all of their rivals.
The Guardian talk about it in slightly less enthusiastic terms, still making City the favourites:
Garry Cook, the City chief executive, arrived in Italy , accompanied by the club's football administrator, Brian Marwood, with no intention of entering an auction for the Chilean forward who is on the radar of Barcelona and Internazionale and has also been offered to Manchester United, with the Premier League champions sounded out during fresh talks involving the chief executive, David Gill.
Elsewhere, Wes Brown is to reject Sunderland's approach for him according to The Mail, who claim he doesn't want to move from the north west.
The only other thing that's about is some more quotes from Paul Scholes, with The Sun and The Star having different ones, The Star on Chelsea and managers, and The Sun on "the end of an era":
"It's definitely ending. Phil Neville and Nicky Butt left a while ago while Gary is finishing this year."Becks went a while ago, so it's coming to an end. Nothing can go on for ever."But there's still Ryan and plenty of other homegrown players at the club."Scholes added: "It's nice to go out having won a 19th title. I thought it would be nice to go out by winning the league or the Champions League.
