Nothing really around today. Transfer deadline day and as we won't be buying anyone there's not a lot to be written about us. A few articles giving Sir Alex's words on our current squad:

"After the Burnley game, I examined our commitment, but after analysing our failings, I didn't think we were lacking in that area.

"I must always guard against complacency. Some players can drive themselves on while others are happy to settle for an easy life, but Manchester United cannot afford that kind of player.

"We took a lot of flak after the game at Turf Moor and there was no shortage of suggestions as to what I should do about it, such as dashing out to pay through the nose for a big-name signing.

"The bulk of the £80 million fee we got from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo is still there and it seems to be burning a hole in the pockets of a lot of fans. But you don't suddenly scrap your transfer policy because of one defeat, even if it was a bad one."

"I have explained our strategy based on my confidence in our squad. With existing players maturing and more eager beavers on the way up, I have no intention of abandoning it.

"I know we have the right squad and I trust them. It's an insult to suggest that overnight I could lose my faith in my players."

There's also a few cautious words on the return of Hargreaves:

"The difficult part will be to get him back in the football side of it," the manager said. "I say 'difficult' because we've not really seen him operate at this moment in time. We're relying on information we're getting from the States. We're certain of one thing, his fitness will be good, his endurance work will have been done, we will just have to gauge when the right time is to put him into the football side of it. You don't have a player who has been out for over a year and suddenly throw him into the fire right away. I think we'll be taking our time."

And then there's just some words from Rooney on being happy at Old Trafford:

"I've always said I love this club and, as long as I'm wanted here, I'll play here. It's as simple as that. I can't see one reason why I should want to move.

"I've everything I want. My family are just 30 minutes away, I'm settled and I honestly can't see me going anywhere else unless I'm told otherwise by the manager."
