This Dust Makes That Mud

Very quiet today. A few transfer rumours and Jamie Carragher's opinion on Michael Owen is about as good as it gets.
The story about us "stealing" Paul Pogba from Le Havre, which I mentioned yesterday, gets further mileage today. I'll just mention this BBC report (which isn't a paper I accept, but the way the story is presented is fairly typical), which at least has Man Utd's response:

a United spokesman told BBC Sport: "It is complete nonsense. Everything has been done within Uefa guidelines."

And then the article spends ages going over previous accusations, all of which seems meant to imply that we're guilty, regardless of the facts, which they don't even look at, they simply quote from clubs who've lost players. Impartiality at its finest...
Onto those rumours. The Daily Star have us after Sergio Aguero again.

The same paper also put a question mark over our moves for Douglas Costa:

ALEX FERGUSON might pull the plug on a deal for Douglas Costa over concerns about the player's private life.

The Gremio midfielder, 18, was arrested by Brazilian police earlier in the week for driving without a valid licence. He has already been fined by police and has had yet another dressing-down from club officials.

There's a bit of a season-preview of us in The News of The World, which basically goes over the ground we've been seeing all summer:

Ferguson makes no bones about the significance of winning the Premier League again this season, the chance to topple Liverpool once and for all. It means that much to Ferguson.

His players know the importance, already instructed that the Premier League is the priority under pressure from a resurgent Liverpool.

To do it they will alter their attacking philosophy, encouraging United's midfielders to provide the goals that will bring the team more glory.
