Tell Me When My Light Turns Green

Well that didn't take long did it? Not two weeks since Ronaldo left Man Utd and already it's okay to like him again. Steven Howard in The Sun makes the turnaround and slags off Eric Cantona for good measure:

Like everyone, Ronaldo has flaws. But nowhere near as many as Eric Cantona and a few others you could mention whose United legacies are regarded as sacrosanct.

Had it not been for his goals, it's unlikely United would have won either of their last two titles or the Champions League. The Portuguese star also gave them a cachet and sprinkling of star dust that added millions to their global fan base.

And so I check the "archives" and come up with this, written by the same Steven Howard a little over a year ago, towards the end of his greatest season:
A quick glance in the reference books supports the theory the Portuguese trickster is a bit of a flat-track bully. ... Ronaldo has to start producing when it really matters.
I take it now the time is now, when he's not playing for us anymore, that he'll finally start producing...
Given all the articles on Michael Owen and England that his move produced I really like this quote from Gary Neville in the papers this morning, pointing out the important thing:
“I don’t think Michael moved to United for England. He’s moved to improve Manchester United."
Frazier Campbell looks like he'll be moving to Sunderland to join up with Steve Bruce:

Bruce ... has held discussions with Campbell’s representatives after negotiating a fee, understood to be more than £5 million, with United.

The forward is expected to undergo a medical this weekend.
The first set of televised fixtures has been released (our opening game against Birmingham is live on Sunday afternoon), check them here.
And finally, it's been a while since I've had opportunity to laugh at Rafa Benitez, but he's opened his mouth again:
"Maybe it's just me but in this market, the top level, I don't think money is the most important thing," the Liverpool manager said.
Really? I thought that that was the only reason that Liverpool lost the league last season? Wasn't that what Benitez said? Hypocrite.
