Tits and Acid

Let's get topical! Top story of the day...
BUSTY Big Brother star Sophie Reade says her dream fella is Man U's Cristiano Ronaldo - even though she supports rivals Liverpool.

But the blonde, 20, has confessed that Portuguese winger Cris, 24, is her passion - even if she thinks he is Spanish.

In a recent interview with Playboy.co.uk she revealed: "I would like Cristiano Ronaldo wrapped up please."

She added he had "a brooding Spanish charm" and would be able to keep up with her in the bedroom.

She explained: "He is incredibly athletic so I wouldn't have to worry about him flaking out on me."
And now, back to the usual rubbish...
It seems like there's two camps of journalists - those who are writing about how sick they are of everyone writing about Ronaldo/Real and those who are writing about Ronaldo/Real. Why don't the first bunch just have a word with the second bunch and we can enjoy a sensible summer until something actually happens. On the Guardian Blog there's someone writing "humorously" on how to get everyone to shut up about it. It's not worth reading.
Something else not worth reading, The Sun on Ronaldo and AC Milan.
has something worth reading in The Times, containing the type of quotes from Perez not highlighted too much in other papers:

“If one day there is a chance of him playing for Real Madrid, that would be an honour for us. But if I had to choose between the friendship with Manchester United and the signing of Ronaldo, I would choose the friendship. Plus, I have never said that Cristiano will arrive in June. That is an arrogant and false statement.”

“Of course, we want the best players to join us here — but only if their club wants to sell them. Ask Gill, David Dein [the former Arsenal vice-chairman], Roman Abramovich [the Chelsea owner] . . . I have an excellent relationship with them and it is essential to me that continues. I represent a club where elegance and gentlemanliness has been always our flag.

“Ronaldo or whoever will come if their club want to sell. To force through a situation is very bad for our image. If someone has acted in that way at some point, I offer my apologies and can assure you that it will not happen again.”

There are actually some decent journalists out there who aren't just looking for the sensational headline...
Speaking of which, the headline "Manchester United could be tempted by £25 million Karim Benzema", has quotes such as these as its substance:
Benzema "said he wants to stay and I don't want to sell, so he is here at 99 per cent. However, Kaka should have not left Milan and he will join Real Madrid.

"We have entered spiral madness and I won't say that Karim is untransferable."

Benzema has previously expressed a preference to move to Spain rather than England should he leave Lyon, but he insists that he is not ready to push for a move this summer.

He said: "If there is a huge offer and the chairman tells me I have to go, I would probably leave. But I will not go and see him to ask to leave."
So a story with no quotes, no anonymous sources from Old Trafford, solely focused on Lyon not wanting to sell Benzema, is given a headline saying we're "tempted" to buy him...
There's a story in which Robbie Keane talks of the threat of Berbatov before Ireland's game against Bulgaria. I won't quote that, I'll quote one of those unneccesary derogatory descriptions some papers love to include after the names of Man Utd players:
Berbatov, a late and ineffective substitute against Barcelona
Relevance?
And elsewhere (Swansea) we could be about to see the return of Jordi Cruyff to the English game:
Jordi Cruyff could become Swansea manager. Cruyff, 35, has been assistant at
Maltese side Valletta FC.

Gary Speed, Dean Saunders, Paolo Sousa and Chris Coleman are also candidates.

Exeter boss Paul Tisdale and John Hughes of Falkirk are in contention too.

Not much competition there then...
