I was thinking, just now, over Ronaldo's season. What stands out? His goal against Porto and his goal against Arsenal in The Champions League second leg (an expression of the team which Ronaldo started and finished). And then I was thinking, is this just a time thing, have I forgotten other moments of beauty from longer ago? Then I remembered the greatest bit of skill we saw last season. And it was from Berbatov:
Berbatov, much maligned, but possessed of such skill. All the talk has been of Rooney filling Ronaldo's boots, but in the sublime skillz department we need look no further than Berbatov. Remember how he took the ball down for Tevez's goal against Man City (at 44 seconds in this video)
And remember all these moments of skill and goals
The future looks bright.
And then I thought about my favourite goals of the season, and came up with these 2
My point? The special moments this season weren't reserved for Ronaldo. The special moments were the property of others. Others who will still be here next season. Ronaldo may have been special, but he wasn't the only special player we possess (and I barely mentioned Rooney...).
