Nerves always precede European nights, so, even though I'm confident of our triumph, I'll be a lot happier when it's over, when we're past Inter.
I think we demonstrated in the first leg that the "Mourinho factor" is no factor at all, and if we'd got the away goal we so richly deserved there would be no way we'd be going out. Even without the away goal, the task - to beat Inter at Old Trafford, an Inter who looked very ordinary in the first leg, an Inter with defensive injuries - seems something easily within our capabilities. Sky Sports call it a "a make-or-break battle of epic proportions", which it may well be, but a battle we are more thqan equipped to win easily. And with Liverpool going through against Real last night it would be absolutely unthinkable for us to go out.
The probable team is the same where ever you look: Van der Sar, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Giggs, Carrick, Ronaldo, Berbatov, Park, Rooney. And it's hard to argue with. The fact that Scholes sat out the FA Cup tie at the weekend led some to suggest he may start, but I don't see it, simply because it's hard to see who he would replace.
As to the prediction. 2-0 to Utd. And let us hope it's 2 early goals to ease the tension and make it a night for enjoyment.
