The more you ignore me, the closer I get

A bit of a novelty in the papers today - a story about Carlos Tevez that suggests he's going to stay at Old Trafford. Yes, really. Here it is, from The Mirror:

The Argentina striker felt marginalised following the arrival of Berbatov from Spurs last summer.

Manchester United are finally ready to sign Carlos Tevez on a permanent basis in a deal worth up to £30million, ending speculation about the striker's future.

Kia Joorabchian, Tevez's representative, met Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford after last weekend's 1-0 win over Everton - just five months before Tevez becomes a free agent.

United are ready to hand Tevez - now on £75,0000-aweek - a three-year deal that would be worth £11.7m to the player over the duration of the contract.

It may not be quite as interesting to journalists as speculating about where he'll end up, but I'm sure they'll get back to that soon enough.
The Telegraph finally gets to the Ronaldo comments that all the other papers quoted yesterday, and, also from The Telegraph, a story I missed yesterday, on Ronaldo buying a hotel in Portugal, which I won't quote from because I've pretty much summed it up anyway.
Capello is apparantly desperate for Rooney to play in the friendly next week, due to injury problems and will speak to Sir Alex today according to several papers, The Sun, for instance:

FABIO CAPELLO will speak to Alex Ferguson before deciding whether to pick Wayne Rooney for England’s friendly in Spain next week. The Manchester United striker is returning to fitness having been out of action with a hamstring injury since January 14.

He could play a part in United’s game at West Ham on Sunday but manager Capello will select his England squad on Saturday night.

One other story, from The Mirror, involves Oliver Holt not having a conversation with a member of the Glazer family. The point of it alludes me:

I met one of the Glazers last week. Actually, 'met' is an exaggeration. 'Met' implies at least the hint of a conversation.

Bryan Glazer, who sits on the Old Trafford board and is the co-chairman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was giving a speech at a pre-Super Bowl event called NFL 'Play 60' Kids' Day, so I introduced myself and shook his hand as he was making his exit.

Bryan - I consider we're on first name terms now - stared at me, then looked over at the suit who was his minder.

He didn't say a word. He just caught the suit's eye, stared hard at him and shook his head. The suit understood.

He stepped over, put his arm across my chest and said Mr Glazer had another appointment.

Are we meant to be hurt on his behalf? Are we meant to be amazed that anyone would turn down the chance to converse with Oliver Holt? I'm assuming it's meant as a sly dig at (by extension) us, but I'm fairly sure it fails on every level...
